About the directors
Valérie Piola Caselli worked as a journalist for 15 years, contributing to written press, radio, and television. A major shift in her career occurred about a dozen years ago when she became a coach, psychologist, and teacher at the Université Côte d'Azur, teaching in the Master's program for communication. She is also a co-founder of Violette et Garance, where she writes and performs interactive theater forum sketches to fight against sexism, harassment, and homophobia. Alongside her various roles, she pursued numerous training courses related to screenwriting, such as "Psychological Structure of Fictional Characters" at the European Audiovisual Writing Conservatory in Paris, as well as courses in "Short Film Screenwriting," "Documentary Screenwriting," and "Screenplay Analysis. » Then, she decided to blend her two passions - writing and acting — to contribute in her own way, fostering awareness and driving change. ROMAN is her first short film project.
In school, Nina Calori already had a YouTube channel. And since then, she has never stopped creating videos, gradually expanding her human and technical resources. A true cinephile, she seizes every opportunity to go to the cinema, whether it's to watch mainstream films, art-house cinema, or classic films. After earning a BBA from a business school, she pursued a Master's in Audiovisual Production at INA (Institut national de l'audiovisuel) and completed internships as a production assistant at Galatée Films alongside Jacques Perrin, and at Caïmans Productions (Court Circuit for Arte and Viva Cinéma for Canal+). She also worked as a second assistant on the feature film Envol directed by Frédéric Cerulli, produced by Les Films à fleurs de peau, featuring Pascal Legitimus, Pierre Santini, Marc Duret, and Andréa Férreol. At just 22 years old, she has also directed her own short films (DERRIERE LE MASQUE, ACCORDE MOI…). She co-directed ROMAN alongside her family, taking charge of the majority of the footage and the editing, not to mention delivering an emotionally charged performance in the role of the young mother.
